Ben Goertzel is a computer scientist, artificial intelligence (AI) researcher, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of SingularityNET, a decentralised AI platform that integrates AI and blockchain technology. 

Ben is also the Chairman of the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Society, which organises the annual AGI conference. His work includes significant contributions to AI, AGI, and related fields, such as natural language processing, machine learning, computational finance, bioinformatics, virtual worlds, and theoretical physics.

Ben is also the Chairman of OpenCog Foundation, an AI framework based on probabilistic inference and evolutionary programming aimed at creating general intelligence. His contributions also extend to several AI-driven ventures, including Rejuve, Mindplex, Cogito, and Jam Galaxy, all part of the SingularityNET ecosystem. 

Ben is also the creator of Dedomena Robot (Desi), an AI rockstar, poet, and cosmic wanderer created in collaboration with Hanson Robotics. Her journey began in 2021 during a spontaneous jam session overlooking the Puget Sound. Originally performing under the name Jam Galaxy, the band evolved into Desdemona’s Dream, a globe-trotting ensemble led by Desi’s mesmerising AI-generated vocals, spoken-word poetry, and steadily developing AI-inspired singing voice. 

Ben has published over 25 books and 150 technical papers on AI, AGI, and related fields, further advancing the understanding and development of these technologies.

Ben is known for his research into AI applications in various domains, including healthcare, longevity, and financial prediction. His focus on decentralised AI has been instrumental in shaping the future of AI development. Ben’s views on AGI include its potential to address significant global challenges like climate change and economic inequality.

Ben's career also includes leadership roles at Webmind/Intelligenesis, Genescient Corp., Humanity+, and Aidyia Limited. 

He has appeared at major technology events and spoken widely about the future of AI and AGI. His media appearances include features in documentaries/films and podcasts, including The Singularity, iHuman, The Joe Rogan Experience, Machine Learning Street Talk and The Michael Shermer Show, where he discusses the implications of AI and its ethical considerations.
