Ghislaine Boddington is a curator, artist, and researcher specialising in digital identity, AI, and embodied interaction. She is the Creative Director of body>data>space, and has led major projects on telepresence, XR, biometrics, and body-responsive tech, including Future Physical, Robots and Avatars, Collective Reality, and My AI Hybrid BioTwin.
Her long-term research, “The Internet of Bodies,” investigates the merging of physical presence and digital systems, with focus areas including AI, telepresence, motion capture, wearable tech, and virtual worlds.
She holds professorial roles in Digital Immersion at the University of Greenwich and in Collective Embodiment at Kingston University’s BRAINS Lab.
She is a long-time contributor to the BBC, including six years co-presenting Digital Planet and her 2024 documentary Me and My Digital Twin for the BBC World Service. She is also a team member of Somewhere on Earth: The Global Tech Podcast (Evergreen).
Ghislaine is an internationally recognised speaker, having delivered keynotes in over 35 countries for audiences spanning business, policy, education, and the creative sector.
She has curated and commissioned over 50 digital body-technology works, including immersive installations and public participatory experiences at venues such as the Royal National Theatre, Glastonbury, and FutureFest.
In 2017, she received the IX Immersion Experience Visionary Pioneer Award from the Society for Arts and Technology for her work in embodied intelligence. She was also a finalist in the Inclusive Tech Alliance Awards (2019) and has featured in the Computer Weekly "Most Influential Women in UK Tech" longlist (2016–2024).
Ghislaine’s written work includes the highly cited article The Internet of Bodies: Alive, Connected, Collective (AI & Society, 2021), the co-edited publication Virtual/Physical Bodies: Corps Virtuels/Physiques (2008), and contributions to Identity, Performance and Technology (Palgrave, 2013) and Collective Collaborations through Telematics (On the Move, 2010).
Ghislaine is a member of the UK Government’s College of Experts and a consultant for organisations such as Hyundai, Nesta, and IKEA. A strong advocate for inclusion in tech, she co-founded Women Shift Digital and is a trustee of Stemettes Futures, supporting diverse participation in STEM and AI sectors.
