Honourable Ms. Feryal Clark is the UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Digital Government at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, a role she has held since July 2024 under Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 

She has represented Enfield North as a Member of Parliament since 2019, becoming the Labour Party’s first Kurdish MP. She has also served as Shadow Minister for HealthShadow Minister for Primary Care and Patient SafetyShadow Minister for Crime Reduction, and Opposition Whip.

As a minister, Clark has been at the forefront of shaping UK policy on AI, digital identity, and data governance. She has delivered speeches at high-profile events such as the AI UK conference hosted by the Alan Turing Institute and visited leading institutions like Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge to witness the latest advancements in AI research. Her priorities include developing frameworks for safe and effective AI governance and ensuring that these technologies benefit public services, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

She represented Brownswood ward and, later, Hoxton East & Shoreditch. She was also Vice-Chair of London Councils’ Transport and Environment Committee and the North London Waste Authority and a member of the London Waste and Recycling Board.

Before her ministerial role, Clark had a successful career in local government. She served as Deputy Mayor of Hackney and held various cabinet roles, including overseeing health, social care, and sustainability. During her tenure, she led campaigns such as securing a banking hub for Hertford Road and restoring full-time hours at Chase Farm’s Urgent Treatment Centre. She has supported over 18,000 residents with casework during her time as MP and secured increased police presence in Enfield North.

Clark holds a degree in Biomedical Science from Kingston University and a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Exeter. She worked for six years in the NHS, specialising in pathology, before entering national politics.
