Daniel Clarke is Policy Manager for International Policy and Trade at techUK in London. His work covers trade policy, including digital trade and free trade agreements, economic security, and bilateral technology cooperation. He manages UK-Japan, UK-APAC, UK-India, UK-China, and UK-Ukraine work streams. Since December 2023, Clarke has been an Industry Member of the UK Domestic Advisory Group on Trade and Sustainable Development at the Department for Business and Trade.
Previously, he was an Associate Analyst at GlobalData researching technology, geopolitics, China, and the energy transition. He completed an internship at Hanbury Strategy and worked as a private tutor for A-Level and GCSE students in Geography and Business Studies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a vaccine trials administration assistant at University Hospital Southampton.
Daniel served as Outreach Officer and Podcast Host for the United Nations Association Youth Platform UK and was a research assistant at Survation Ltd. He has been a member of Chatham House since October 2019. He raised over $400 for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the University of Sussex Jailbreak Challenge, reaching Oslo in 36 hours without spending money.
His education includes an MSc in International Public Policy from University College London, where he was active in the UCL Model United Nations and International Relations Society and took part in professional training on communication and negotiation. He attended a Foreign and Commonwealth Office trade policy session, receiving a certificate of attendance.
Daniel was invited on an academic merit-based trip to Renmin University of China, where he completed a summer school course on ‘The EU in Crisis – Understanding Current Issues in European Politics.’ The course deepened his knowledge of the euro zone, EU policy on counter-terrorism, environment, corruption, and Sino-European relations.
